An Adults Tale

On New Year's eve, my husband and I get together with my sister and her husband. It has become a New Year's evetradition ever since my sister, Naomi and brother-in-law, Nick, moved across the street from us. What better way to start a new year, than to be with family.

Last year on New Year's eve, the 4 of us decided to go to a party. My sister and I helped each other get ready, like we used to when we were kids. We were then on our way.

Being New Year's eve, the traffic was crazy. It took us a good 30 minutes to reach the venue of the party.Normally the drive would take us just 10 minutes. When we reached the party, it was sheer madness. There was blaring music, drinks everywhere, and a whole lot of people dancing, getting cozy and having a good time. My sister has always been a party person and I was always the shy one among us both. I could see the excitement on my sister's face as it had been a while since we had been to a good party.

Looked like this party would be fun! My husband and Nick decided to get us drinks. Almost as soon as they left the table my sister spotted her colleagueand wanted to say hello to her. I told her to go on ahead. I was sitting by myself when a guy, who looked like he was 10 years younger than me, came up to me and asked me if I would be interested in dating him for the night. Oh my God! Flattered as I was, I showed him my ring and he got the message. My husband, Nick and Naomi all got back to the table and we had a hearty laugh over what had just happened.

Enjoying our drinks, we chit chatted over various things. We then hit the dance floor and after dancing till we had no energy left, we decided to sit down. We then ordered some more drinks. It was 15 minutes to midnight. Everyone was pumped up and the energy was great. My sister was the most drunk among us all, as she was having tequila shots. All of a sudden she caught hold of my hand and said she had to confess something. I was laughing , as she normally got a little crazy when she got drunk. It was common knowledge. Then Naomi says, "Nick and I are swingers. That is right, swingers! What do you think?" I looked at the guys at our table.They were looking down.A guilty look. I did not know if my ears were ringing due to the loud music or I had just heard my sister, whom I had known my entire life confess to me 10 minutes before New Year's that she and her husband were swingers. I then asked Nick if this was true or she was saying it as she was dead drunk. He said it was true and that he was sorry that I had to find out this way. Then my sister said something that made things worse. She said my husband already knew that they were swingers. So I realized that everyone except me at that table was already aware of this fact. I gave my husband my famous glare. I am sure he and everyone at that table knew what that meant.What a way to end a year and start a new one!
